Jiv Daya Foundation
JDF’s Pre-school Nutrition and Education Program As a direct response to
the problem of Malnourishment highlighted in the published Lancet study
highlighting the disparities between states, Jiv Daya Foundation has put
together a framework for action in Village based intervention and
programs.
Framework
The framework focuses on the most effective option of
preventing and correcting malnourishment in children by provision of Milk.
JDF aims to support villages not only to ensure that children receive
adequate daily nourishment through milk, but also to engage in the learning
activities to impact their overall health and wellbeing.
Solution
- Through extensive research and trials, JDF has come to the conclusion that 150 ml of Milk prepared by Amul Spray powder (Amul) is highly effective in meeting Daily Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for the children under the age of 5 years
- Amul Spray Powder formula not only addresses daily requirements for Protein, Carbohydrate and fat
but also has added Micronutrients which are required to encourage steady growth in children. - All villages are extremely backward areas lacking basic facilities.
• Most of the roads leading to the village are unpaved.
• Most of the people earn their livelihood by doing agriculture-based labor.
• There is also lack of proper school for the children to study.
• Most of the people are not educated, the same people also consume drugs.
• Due to lack of awareness, they are not able to take advantage of government schemes.
• All the selected families come from the OBC and ST category.
• The Milk Project was started on May 2022, since then the attendance of children has remained
continuously from 90 to 100 percent.
